The Tidewater EMS Council, Inc. seeks proposals from qualified EMS educators, organizations and jurisdictions (“vendors”) to plan and conduct Category 1 EMS continuing education courses and/or EMS auxiliary courses throughout the Tidewater EMS region. The council intends to contract with one or more vendors or optionally employ individuals to plan and conduct these courses. Funding associated with this program is available for approved courses conducted between August 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018.
The full Request for Proposals is available at: pdf TEMS Request for Proposals EMS CE and Auxiliary Courses rev 6 27 17 (143 KB) . Please review the RFP in its entirety prior to submitting proposals. Any future revisions to the RFP along with questions and answers will be posted on this website. An electronic proposal submission form is available here.
A pre-submission conference to review this RFP and address questions from potential vendors was held on Monday July 17, 2017 at the council office. Only one question not already addressed in the RFP was raised.
- Question: If an agency/instructor has already submitted a CE course approval request for FY17, will a new course approval request need to be submitted on or after August 1 to coincide with available funding?
- The response from OEMS: No. They will be fine with the already submitted course approval request.
Additional discussion resulted in this clarification:
- This program allows for funding for up to TWO 33-hour continuing education courses PER LOCALITY to be reimbursed on a per course basis, based on the number of topic hours actually taught in a classroom for each course. This program also makes available funding for eligible auxiliary courses with no specific limit per locality, to be reimbursed based on the number of students attending.
