State EMS Testing
in the Tidewater Region
THIS
INFORMATION AND THE ASSOCIATED REGISTRATION IS
FOR
THE STATE EXAM,
NOT
THE REGIONAL ALS SANCTIONING TEST.
Click Here for the regional test.
Candidates (Students) at consolidated test sites
are no longer permitted to bring any electronic devices onto the
premises - they must be left in their vehicles or at home. Anyone
who thinks they may have a personal emergency may be directed to call the CTS
coordinator or his/her designee, at the Regional
Council's discretion. Evaluators and CTS staff members are not affected by this directive at this time.
The Tidewater EMS
Council coordinates all state EMS test sites in this region. All EMS students and providers
who need to take a state certification exam must register
with the Tidewater EMS Council prior to the deadlines posted for any
given test site. Early registration is encouraged, as various
locations have limited seats due to fire code restrictions. Candidates should read
the Policy on Registration and Fees
for Consolidated Test Sites before registering.
Students must bring ALL OEMS paperwork to the test site to
be admitted and allowed to test. This includes eligibility letters and scores
(if retesting). Those without proper OEMS paperwork will not be allowed to test!!!
Attention
Instructors:
Instructors are highly encouraged to require students to
register themselves for testing using the on-line registration
process below. Instructors may choose to register individual students
using the same link provided below for individual candidates. It is the
instructor's responsibility to ensure that each student is provided with
a confirmation letter and that each student is aware of all required
documentation needed for testing. Those who fail to bring required documentation to the
test site will not be allowed to test.
Attention Individual
Candidates:
All individuals in need of Virginia EMS certification
or recertification testing are required to electronically register
to test with the EMS council using our on-line registration system (see
"Register Now" button below).
There is a $50.00 fee for initial First Responder and EMT-B practical testing and a $25.00 fee for practical retesting per student for First Responder
and EMT-B testing. Your registration
be final until the fee is received. An
additional $25.00 fee will be charged for No-Shows. Please
do not register unless you plan to test. If you register and need to
cancel, call the Tidewater EMS Council office
(757 963-0632 between 8:30 am and 4:30 p.m.,
Monday - Friday except holidays) at least 24 hours prior to the test
site to avoid the No-Show fee.
There
is no fee for written testing or written retesting.
However, written and retest candidates must register with
the council. Ask your course coordinator for information about practical testing for advanced life support
courses.
Please note: You will receive immediate on-line confirmation as
well as an email confirmation when registering
electronically. Print your confirmation.
The confirmation will provide information you will need for the test site and a
link for driving directions. Click here to
repeat the important
information about what to bring to a test site. You must be registered for
a test site to be admitted to the test site.
