The Kent J. Weber Emergency Response Training and Simulation Center provides the Hampton Roads (and beyond) public safety and medical community with its own facility and resources for safe and effective learning focused on patient treatment in a wide range of medical and trauma situations as well as incident management during situations involving weapons of mass destruction, mass casualties and other disasters. Simulation is used to improve clinical decision making and psychomotor skills (e.g. airway management, trauma resuscitation), reduce medical error, and improve teamwork in a consequence-free environment. Scenarios expose medical professionals to known error-producing conditions or to rare but critical clinical situations that may necessitate specialized training.
Our mission: Provide a safe, controlled and low stress environment for doctors, nurses, EMS, public health, fire, law enforcement, emergency management, public officials and other responders to learn and practice a range of professional emergency response skills utilizing state-of-the-art teaching tools and methodologies.
