Effective February 1, 2012, all Tidewater EMS providers must obtain signatures from medical practitioners (Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner) that are pen to paper on all medication boxes exchanges.

The Tidewater EMS Council's annual Awards and Family Picnic will be held at the Norfolk Zoo June 16, 2012. Among other events being held that day there will be a display of vehicles from all over the region. Once again TEMS will organize what has become an annual educational event held in Suffolk.  For the past several years this event has offered a number of providers another opportunity to come together and network as well as attend numerous hours of continuing education credits at all levels of certification.  In the past it has been a very well received program that has been attended by physicians, nurses, EMS providers as well as other allied health professionals.

There is a continuing lack of medication availability for the regional medication boxes. The Tidewater EMS Region continues to see shortages, including Valium, Versed, Ativan and Magnesium Sulfate. The regional pharmacists are working to assure there will be adequate supplies, but these are national shortages.
