Austere Airway: Managing the Impossible

When intubation isn’t  an option and suction doesn’t exist, airway management becomes an exercise in  problem-solving. This session explores the principles of airway control in  resource-limited and prehospital settings — from basic adjuncts and  positioning to surgical options. Participants will discuss improvisation,  decision-making under duress, and integrating physiology-based strategies to  improve oxygenation when tools or help are scarce.
