Does This Count? – Making Sense of EMS CE

Not all continuing education is created equal, and completing a class doesn’t always mean the credit will apply where you expect it to. This session is designed to help Virginia EMS providers better understand their own continuing education responsibilities and how Virginia OEMS, National Registry, CAPCE, online education, and CE reporting relate to one another. Using common questions and real-world scenarios, we’ll look at how providers can identify what education they need, understand what a course may count toward, verify that credit has been properly reported, and recognize potential problems before they become recertification problems. The goal isn’t to turn every provider into an Education Coordinator — it’s to give providers enough understanding of the system to take an active role in maintaining their own certification.
