Overview

ICS 300 (Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents) is a 21-hour, in-person course for supervisors and command staff managing expanding or Type 3 incidents. It focuses on NIMS compliance, IAP development, and resource management

Key Aspects of the ICS 300 Class:

Target Audience: Designed for emergency responders, including fire, law enforcement, and emergency management personnel who may serve in command or general staff positions.

Core Topics:

NIMS Management Characteristics: Applying National Incident Management System principles to complex incidents.

Incident Action Planning (IAP): Creating IAPs for expanding incidents.

Resource Management: Managing resources effectively during incidents.

Unified Command: Implementing command structures in multi-agency scenarios.

Structure: Often delivered as a 3-day, in-person training session, sometimes available in a 5-day virtual format.

Goal: To enhance teamwork, coordination, and efficiency among mid-level managers during complex, expanding, or multi-jurisdictional emergencies.

This training is crucial for ensuring that responders can effectively manage larger-scale incidents that go beyond the initial, immediate response phase.
