Overview

Public Health is becoming more of an emerging field than ever. As EMS, providers have an amazing opportunity to be part of community health and education. Every patient encounter is a chance to teach someone how to better take care of themselves and the issues they face, check in to see if they need anything to better manage symptoms, or just create public awareness. It could be a local health event where blood pressure screenings re being held, a hands only CPR demonstration during EMS week, a presence at a local street fair or event to promote the agency and healthier options. There are so many opportunities to not only better educate and assist the public with their health needs but possibly create public awareness about health issues in the community. This program will discuss various events that can be held to have a better community relationship and extend what the local public health offices are doing at a more local level.
