The Region 7 EMS Council STEMI Committee is responsible for the effective identification, analysis and correction of prehospital and inter-hospital care provided to patients diagnosed with ST-elevation MI or new onset of Left Bundle Branch Block. The committee links EMS data and hospital STEMI data for a comprehensive view focused on process improvement and retrospective systemic analysis. This requires an objective review by qualified, appropriate representatives of EMS, STEMI and hospital programs within the Region 7 EMS Council Region, protected by a process which ensures patient confidentiality. The Committee is responsible for the Region 7 EMS Council Regional ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction Plan and works with the Virginia Heart Attack Coalition (VHAC) to coordinate cardiac care education and training consistently throughout the region.
